Gear Review: Ombraz Sunglasses
I am sure some of you have seen the Ombraz armless sunglasses at some point. In case you haven’t seen them, think sunglasses with Chums attached but no arms that tuck behind your ears. A simple adjustable cord keeps them in place on your face.
Dolomites and included case
We got connected with the folks and Ombraz and they sent over a pair of Dolomites with polarizes lenses to try out.
Pros
Ombraz are really excellent overall. I thought maybe they might feel a bit unstable or odd but that wasn’t really the case. It took a few times of putting them on and adjusting to feel like normal sunglasses. My favorite part is how well they fit under my helmet.

Cons
Again I wasn't sure how these were actually going to fit and feel. Putting them on and taking them off is a little cumbersome at first. However, if you are going to be outside all day you will hardly notice any difference from traditional sunglasses.
- Sort of require two hands to put on
- Not as easy quick on and off
- Smudges and fog a bit
Fit
Well they fit and feel like normal sunglasses, just a tab bit closer to your face. This meant they got a little foggy on me mostly while kayaking. For only being held to your face via a string they feel really secure and comfortable. Since they are tightened and loosened via cord that is really easy to adjust. You can really get a nice custom fit with them.
Add a floatie
Durability
I have only been wearing them for a week or so. They feel nice and sturdy and come with nice Ziess lenses. If you wear out the cord you can send them in and have them replaced. They come with a nice neoprene case with a built-in lens cloth. That will help you take care of these and hopefully get many years of use.
If you are looking for a new pair of sunglasses for all day out door adventures go get a pair.
