This is an action packed class IV run that isn't on everyones radar. Fall, winter, and spring rains may keep this stretch flowing but 1 or 2 late summer releases bring paddling from around Oregon and Northern California.
This can be run has a 1.4 mile stretch or 3.4 mile stretch if you paddle all of the way down to the Lost Creek Reservoir. I strongly suggest checking out the late summer release days as there is a free shuttle from the Power House thats runs all day.
Mile 0: After a long hike down to the river there are a couple options of where you get in the river. Once down near the river hike upstream for a few extra steep boulder drop rapids. Just down from Mill Creek Falls is a nice pool to start you day paddling from.
Mile .5: The rapids are one right after another. They are mostly steep boulder drops with a pool here and there.
Mile .7: Making your way down for the first time can be a challenge as the rapids are pretty tight. However, there are a handful of fun lines to explore once you know what goes and what doesn't.
Mile 1: One of the last rapids has a great hole to practice your enders.
Mile 1.4: Take-out is just below the North Fork / Prospect Power House. You will even see a sign. Continue down stream for more class III and a long hike out.
