This section of the Klickitat River can be done on it's own or after a float down the Upper Klickitat. Launching at the Klickitat Hatchery makes for a wonderful class II-III, 10.7 mile run. This is a swift section of river with small eddies. Wood is common on this run, so you'll want to be a solid Class III paddler and pay attention.
Mile 0: Put-in right below the low head dam at the Klickitat Hatchery near Glenwood. The river below here is generally continuous Class II with the possibility of wood in the river at any time.
Mile 2.3: Wonder Falls cascades down the right bank.
Mile 2.5: Outlet Creek enters from river right just past a small spring.
Mile 5.3: Float under the Klickitat River Bridge. Summit Creek enters the Klickitat River just downstream on the right. The river begins to ease up to Class II below here.
Mile 7.8: Float through a remarkable basalt canyon.
Mile 10.5: Take out on river right at Leidl Campground.
